Just 2 weeks before the mobile craze will hit Barcelona again, so here’s Rudy’s annual list of side events and *places to be*: the events and networking cocktails next to the classic big industry players mega parties.

Mobile World Congress - FiraBefore Monday (Feb. 27th) there is also the Heroes of the Mobile Fringe (Sunday, 26 February 2012 from 13:30 to 17:00, Novotel Hotel Barcelona City, Avenida Diagonal 201 (Entrada por Ciutat de Granada), 08018 Barcelona, Spain) as well as the Showstoppers Press Event (Sunday, Feb 26, 2012, 4 to 7 pm (1600-1900), at The Palau de Congressos de Catalunya, Just steps from the Hotel Rey Juan Carlos, Barcelona) and already on Monday, Feb 27th from 7-10pm (19:00-22:00), the MobileFocus Global press event at the Hotel Rey Juan Carlos I.

Mobile Sunday 2012

- The classic meet-up of mobile influencers before the Mobile World Congress.

The seventh annual Mobile Sunday – the now classic meet-up of mobile influencers, developers, investors and entrepreneurs will be taking place in Barcelona on the eve of this year’s Mobile World Congress at City Hall in the heart of Barcelona, near Plaça de Catalunya.

Mobile Sunday is the place where the stories that matter are launched the day before the conference starts. Mobile Sunday is also a unique chance for you to meet AppCircus organizers and winners and to meet the MobileMonday global chapter founders in one spot during the conference.

Mobile Premier Awards

The Mobile Premier Awards 2012 mark the end of the AppCircus year and brings together the winners of more than 30 countries worldwide. You will have a rare chance to meet developers from all over the world competing for the best app of the year. The competition is the largest open and global cross-platform app competition in the mobile industry, it provides the point of reference for the startup and developer community during Mobile World Congress.

The event is FREE! Registration is needed here.

This year, the event is taking place at Sala Apolo – a jewel of the classic dance hall design and only 5 minutes walking distance away from the Mobile World Congress premises.

After The Mobile Premier Awards – We aim to Party! … and you’re invited! Come celebrate with us (from 8.30pm till midnight) at the AppCircus party supported by Mozilla; in the Beautiful Sala Apolo, Barcelona – a jewel of classic dance hall design.

Dutch Mobile Networking Event

The Dutch Mobile Networking Event will take place at an exclusive town house in Barcelona, Spain. The event is focused on Dutch visitors of the Mobile World Congress. The main language spoken will be Dutch. However there were quite some international guests last years, so please feel free to join.

Bubble Over Barcelona

Bubble Over Barcelona (BOB) is a mini-conference that brings the many innovators and disruptors from the Silicon Valley area to the global mobile meet up that is Mobile World Congress. The three hour event is designed to be a place where edge-pushing companies can cross pollinate with each other and also meet up with the many venerable operators and device manufacturers who converge on Barcelona from all over the world.

Swedish Beers Party

Like previous events, organised by Helen Keegan, this is a relaxed evening, no formalities, no presentations, no business cards thrust in your face as soon as you arrive. Just come with an open mind, be prepared to see friends old and new, talk nonsense, enjoy a drink or five and have yourself a good time. Oh, and leave the ties, the corporate personas and the sales spiel at the door please. The Swedish Beers crew will be on hand – Helen, Jenny, Gabriel, Shafiq, Cat, Sarah, Russell – and the friendliest bar staff in town are all waiting to welcome you.
